Approval of property to widen Towsontown Boulevard

The County Council approved the sale of a small strip of land to widen Towsontown Boulevard on Monday, March 21. The property is on the north side of Towsontown Boulevard, stretching from Osler Drive to University Drive.


The entire widening project should cost $3.13 million. The county expects to advertise the project in March 2011, begin construction in July 2011, and finish the project next summer.

Goucher presents John Grogan, author of 'Marley & Me,' on 3/28

John Grogan, a former Philadelphia Inquirer columnist and the author of Marley & Me, will present the lecture "Memoir & Me: The Art of First-Person Narrative Nonfiction" on Monday, March 28, at 8 p.m. in Hyman Forum of Goucher College's Athenaeum.


Goucher presents "Turmoil in the Middle East: What Will Be the Outcome?" on 4/6

Since last December, an unprecedented groundswell of protests and revolution has rippled across the Middle East and North Africa. "Turmoil in the Middle East: What Will Be the Outcome?" will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 8 p.m. in Hyman Forum of Goucher College's Athenaeum. Panelists will cover the historical background, forces driving change, implications for the future of democracy in the Middle East, and U.S. policy toward the region.


Goucher College presents Jean-Michel and Céline Cousteau on 4/11

Environmentalist/film producer Jean-Michel Cousteau and environmentalist/educator Céline Cousteau — the son and granddaughter of legendary oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau — will give a multimedia presentation titled "The Great Ocean Adventure" at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 11, in Goucher College's Kraushaar Auditorium.


Dispose of old electronics and other recyclables on TU’s campus on 4/20

Drop off your personal electronics, batteries, cell phones, printer cartridges, fluorescent light bulbs and more at TU’s annual Recycling Drop-Off Wednesday, April 20. It couldn’t be easier to dispose of electronics and single-stream recycling materials in an environmentally-friendly way: simply stop by the drop-off location in the grassy area between lot 11 and the Union Garage from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and we’ll take your recyclables and give you a chance to win TU gear.


Accepted Materials at Drop-Off

  • Cardboard
  • Cell phones
  • Electronics: Any personal electronics, including but not limited to: TVs, computers, VCRs, printers, toasters, microwaves, blenders, typewriters, digital cameras, circuit boards curling irons, keyboards, mice, speakers, cameras, shredders, telephones, cables, cords, etc.
  • Fluorescent light bulbs (must be intact)
  • Glass – any color
  • Batteries (all except automotive; not leaking)
  • Paper – including magazines, books, mail, etc.
  • Plastic – any number
  • Printer cartridges

Materials Not Accepted at Drop-Off

  • Food
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Paint
  • Trash

U.S. Senator Ben Cardin hosts health care career expo on 4/16

Towson University's Student Union will be the venue for an April 16th Health Care Career Expo (PDF) featuring exhibitors such as health care employers, educational and training programs, and career counseling and resume preparations. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and reservations are required.
