Recent Thefts and Breakins to Automobiles

 From Sgt Fink, BCPD:

Good day folks, it's that time of year again! Friendly reminder for you and all of your friends, family and neighbors! Over this past weekend Precinct 6 Officers were busy documenting and investigating several thefts from Autos and one Grand Theft Auto in several neighborhoods on either side of the southern York Rd corridor. From Anneslie to Stoneleigh to Rodgers Forge and the City line vehicles were left unlocked with valuables like GPS, cellphones, loose change, ipods, wallets etc left inside in plain sight.

The method of these thefts has not changed since we at Towson Precinct first asked for your assistance in reducing this criminal activity. Those responsible are walking up and down our streets in the dark of night just looking for those unsecured vehicles with valuable items sitting inside and upon finding such vehicles are simply picking up those gems and walking away.

We know many habits are hard to break and as residents in our communities we should feel safe in our homes with all our valuables surrounding us day and night. However there are folks amongst us who have other ideas and by not doing our part to properly lock, secure, store our valuables they come along and make our property their's.

So please take the steps yourselves to protect your property, tell those around you to protect their property. As we get out of our homes now that the weather is nice and we're attending our kids ball games or attending the many outdoor events and festivals that are held in Towson or out in our yards working and see our neighbor doing the same get the word out, remind them to take care of their valuables before somebody else does. Lock your cars, roll up all the windows, don't leave the keys inside, take out all items that really don't need to be in your vehicles and those that do put them in the glove box or compartment so that they're out of sight to those that might be looking.

Our Officers and Detectives are actively investigating all these cases trying to identify and charge those responsible but we are just one piece of the crime solving puzzle. You folks also own a piece of this pie, secure your property, protect what is yours and when you see or hear others that you do not recognize as belonging in your community call 9-1-1 so that we may respond and investigate, identify those unknown persons.
Thanks, Sgt Stephen Fink, 2815 PC06 COT
