County to Hold Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, Permanent Drop-Off Center Opens for the Season

Towson, MD (March 30, 2011) - On Sunday, April 3, Baltimore County residents may bring household hazardous waste items to a one-day collection event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Baltimore County Resource Recovery Center, located off of Warren Road in Cockeysville.

Baltimore County residents may bring the following materials: paints, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, cleaning solvents, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, swimming pool chemicals, re-chargeable batteries, mercury thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, fireworks, ammunition and other household hazardous wastes. Representatives from the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) will be on hand to accept and process the chemicals and distribute educational materials.

A second one-day collection event is scheduled for Sunday, November 6 at the Western Acceptance Facility, located at 3310 Transway Road in Halethorpe.

Seasonal Drop-Off Center Open at Landfill in White Marsh

For those residents who can't make it to the one-day event, EPS operates a seasonal household hazardous waste collection facility, in cooperation with the Department of Public Works, at the Eastern Sanitary Landfill, located at 6259 Days Cove Road in White Marsh. This facility is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from April through November. Residents may call EPS at 410-887-4488 ext. 309 for more information.
