Rodgers Forge COP Launches New Campaign

Graffiti is a nuisance. Graffiti is a community issue. It obstructs the beauty of a neighborhood. When left unchecked, this means a community is not actively seeking to prevent or eliminate graffiti.

Rodgers Forge has its share of graffiti issues. The type of graffiti we experience is classified as "conventional graffiti." It's best described as spontaneous acts of "youthful exuberance."

Rob Williams, leader of the RFCOP is launching the Graffiti Removal Initiative Project, or GRIP. The Graffiti Elimination Team is now forming, better known as GET.

"GET a GRIP on Graffiti."

The goal of the campaign is to help reduce graffiti in Rodgers Forge. It may not be totally eliminated but with community awareness and effort and continued support from the BCPD, acts of vandalism can be minimized.

Residents can be involved in a four point process.

1) Awareness-graffiti appears throughout the Forge on traffic signs, poles, mailboxes etc.

2) Education-Inform residents/children about the penalties one can incur if caught in the act of vandalizing property.

3) Prevention-Volunteer in the RFCOP.

4) Elimination-Join the Graffiti Elimination Team. Safe graffiti removal products will be purchased to help eliminate graffiti from vandalized areas.

Mr. Williams hopes that you will help him GET a GRIP on Graffiti.
