Recycling Bill Approved by Council

Rob Williams shared that the following bill has been approved by the County Council regarding recycling of home electronic devices.

Recycling of Home Electronic Devices

"Home electronic device" means a computer, cpu, computer peripherals, including a monitor, keyboard or printer, laptop, scanner, computer cables and cords, television, stereo, telephone
answering machine, video cassette recorder, DVD player, facsimile machine, telephone, cell phone, video display device, and any other electronic product that is sold, primarily for personal use, to a household by means of retail, wholesale or electronic commerce.

A person may dispose of a home electronic device by delivering
the device:

1)To a Recycling Center

2)To a manufacturer or retailer that has established a program for the collection and recycling of a home electronic device.

A person who disposes of a home electronic device in violation of this section is subject to a civil penalty of $100.
