An unknown suspect took property from the victim’s cabinet. The victim left the back door unlocked. There were no signs of forced entry. Unknown

An unknown suspect cut the padlock off of the office/storage trailer at the construction site. Nothing appears to be missing. Unknown

An unknown suspect entered the location and removed property. A chain link fence and a door to a maintenance vehicle were damaged. Unknown

04/21/11-04/24/11 1500-1200 11-114-0733 4th Degree Burglary 1500 block Glen Keith Blvd. 21286
The suspect entered the fenced yard and pried open a door on a box truck. It is unknown if anything was taken. A witness observed two males jumping over the fence at 0500 hrs on 04/24/11. The suspects left the area in a red pickup truck with a silver or white stripe on the lower half. The next evening, Officer Heyman stopped a truck fitting the description. A known burglar was a passenger in the truck. Officer Heyman’s Investigation led to an arrest of the known burglar. The investigation is ongoing and It is likely that numerous burglaries will be cleared 1 Adult Male Arrested

Baltimore County Police Cyber Crimes Presentation

At the Baltimore County Police Community Relations Council (PCRC) meeting, Captain Roby presented on Cyber Crimes in Baltimore County. Here are some highlights from the presentation. – submitted by Mike Calwell

· Cyber crimes

o There were 2934 calls for service in the cyber crimes unit in 2010
o So far in 2011, there have been 902 calls for service
o There are only six detective in the unit
o It’s not uncommon for 40 – 50 cases new cases per day

· Financial crimes (identify theft)

o 1055 identify thefts in 2010
o 343 identity thefts so far in 2011

· Forgeries

o This is a significant issue in Baltimore County right now
o There is one case that is being worked with over $900,000 in bad checks
o 723 cases in 2010
o 233 cases so far in 2011

· Network intrusions

o Criminal are targeting business where personal information can be obtained such as doctors’ offices
o There have been cases where criminals drive through neighborhoods looking for open wireless access points and hack into personal computers looking for information such as SSN account numbers.

· Email Scams

o This is still an issue
o Do not open any suspicious emails
o BCPD has seen a lot of traffic from Jamaica, ex Soviet states, Africa and Canada

· Mortgage fraud on the rise, criminals will secure a bogus mortgage with someone’s real information

· Cell phone fraud has been seen in Baltimore County, criminal getting cell phones with someone else’s information

· Stolen drugs, health supplies and other items, show up on eBay and flea markets

· “If you are a victim of a cyber crime, report it!”, the banks don’t like you to report the crime because it reflects badly on the bank

Captain Jones gave his Precinct 6 report also:

· There was a string of auto thefts of Dodge vehicles, BCPD apprehended two suspects, so far, 27 auto thefts have been cleared with these two suspects

· There has been a string of (about 10) armed robberies around Baltimore County, suspect are targeting convenience stores, they are driving a blue Chevy Lumina with tinted windows and missing a hub cap on one of the front wheels

· There has been a string of 4th degree burglaries, steeling copper wire and power tools, an arrest has been made, case not cleared yet
