"Born Free at GBMC” Classes For Moms Looking for Natural Childbirth

GBMC Launches “Born Free” Class

For Mothers Looking For Natural Childbirth

BALTIMORE, Md. – April 5, 2011 – Greater Baltimore Medical Center has launched a new class for mothers-to-be and their birthing partners who are looking to achieve a natural childbirth without using epidurals or other medication.

Born Free at GBMC” classes are scheduled for May 28th, July 23rd, Sept 17th, Nov 19th. The cost for the class, which is held at GBMC’s Civiletti Conference Center, is $140.

This childbirth education class has a strong emphasis on acupressure, relaxation, and labor positioning. Phases and stages of labor, coping techniques, breathing patterns and partner support will all be discussed and practiced. This class requires physical mobility for both partners, so participants should come prepared for a little activity with squatting bars and birthing balls. The class is taught by experienced birth doulas who are up to date with birthing trends and parent expectations.

All babies delivered medication-free will receive a complimentary “onesie” baby outfit to show everyone they were Born Free at GBMC.

For more information or to register, go to www.gbmc.org/parented or call 443-849-BABY (2229).
