Per the annual general membership meeting in September, the community association proposes the by-laws be changed as stated below. Board members will vote at the RFCA monthly meeting November 9th at 7 pm.

RFCOP Crime Update Week of October 3rd - 9th

From R.F.C.O.P. – looking for a few good patrollers:

The Rodgers Forge Citizens on Patrol are proud of our neighborhood and the increase of awareness in our community. We have enjoyed a decrease in crime and an increase in notifying police of suspicious activity by you, the residents of the Forge!! Our motto “Light On, Lock Up, Look Out” has been increasingly practiced over the past 2 years with a major decrease in high profile crimes – 1^st degree burglaries in the forge. Nineteen reported in 2009, eleven in 2010, and only three so far in 2011. Bike thefts have become our latest major issue and police are increasing their search for the people responsible. To continue this trend we are always in need of volunteers to help patrol the Forge. If you can only give 1 hour a month, every two weeks, anything that fits into your schedule. We are looking for extra patrollers for our Halloween “Pumpkin Patrol” this year. We have developed an introductory orientation that can be done at your convenience to explain what patrolling is all about. RFCOP Crime Update Week of September 26th - October 2nd

Correction to a 1^st degree burglary originally reported in the Forge:

The 1st degree burglary on 9/8/11 that was listed as occurring on Overbrook has been confirmed as not happening in Rodgers Forge. Both Spot Crime & the Baltimore Sun Crime reports erred by placing an incident from the Wilkens precinct into our precinct. The case number is 112511320.

The following is from one of our patrollers:

I was going through reports from the last few years and I'm happy to report some great news. Hopefully, I'm not jinxing anything by posting this now but here is an update on 1st degree burglaries that have occurred at residential homes in Rodgers Forge the past 3 years from January through September.

2009 – 9, 2010 – 6, 2011 – 3 (this includes removing the incorrect listing on 9/8/11)

This downward trend is great news.

· By the end of 2009, there were 19 residential break-ins – 10 October through December

· By the end of 2010, there were 11 break-ins – 5 October through December

The trend those past 2 years had a majority of the break-ins occurring after June. Hopefully, we won't see a repeat of that this year.

Area Burglaries On The Rise

I recently received the following message from Sgt. Fink:

Once again we're seeing a spike in our Burglaries particularly in the west & northwest section of Towson along the Falls Rd corridor (Cockeysville & Franklin Pcts are seeing the same trend). I'm sending this message out to all of our communities though to once again remind everyone to be vigilant in protecting their neighborhoods. Since mid-September there have been close to thirty (30) burglaries along the Falls Rd area between the three Precincts, in almost all of them entry was made either through an unlocked door or forcing open a locked door and half the time the suspect/s have entered through the front door. Thus far Burglary Detectives have little information on a possible suspect or vehicle--in one instance someone reported seeing an unknown race Male wearing a blue, puffy jacket and gloves, nothing further--but most have occurred during daylight hours--primarily while residents are at work and school. What we're asking from our community residents is to once again be sure to always secure your residences, out buildings (sheds, garages, etc), vehicles to best protect your property and please call 9-1-1 anytime you observe a suspicious person, vehicle and/or activity in the area. If you see an open door or window on a neighbor's house and you know the resident is not presently at home call 9-1-1 immediately so Officers can respond to investigate. This is not the first time we've called upon the citizenry of Towson to help us eradicate a problem in our community and you've always come through with valuable information that has greatly aided this pursuit, we anticipate great results again as we look to eliminate such behavior once more.

As we get more information I will pass it along but for now we greatly appreciate your support in getting the word out to your residents.
