From Sgt. Fink, BCPD:
Earlier this week a resident
on Kirkwall Rd reported that an unknown African-American male entered
her residence, confronted her teenage child (who was not a target of the
suspect thus was not assaulted or otherwise injured) then left out of
the house but not before taking a laptop, cellphone and Ipad. Witnesses
saw the subject running down the alleyway towards Loch Raven but he was
not located by responding Officers.
The reason for this email
alert is that the suspect entered the home through an unlocked front
door after nightfall and the items taken were easily accessible once the
suspect was inside. As with vehicles and any outbuildings on properties
I am stressing to you to stress to your neighbors the importance of
properly securing everything!! Lock all windows and doors to your
residence, vehicle, shed, garage! Put all valuables--cash, jewelry,
electronics, etc--in secure locations, out of sight so that the
possibility of having them stolen is decreased. Stress the importance
of doing all the little things to best secure your property, valuables
and family from the criminal element that is a part of our society. The
less vulnerable we make ourselves the less of a target we become for
them!!
The suspect in this incident
is described as African-American, male, early 20's, 6'1" tall, 210 lbs,
medium build, wearing a navy blue hoodie and dark blue jeans.
Presently this is an open investigation assigned to our Burglary Detectives.
Thank you, Sgt Stephen Fink, 2815 PC06 COT
