Councilman Marks has requested the following information be forwarded to you.
Dear Senator Brochin; Delegates Aumann, Frank, and Lafferty; County Executive Kamenetz; County Councilman Marks :
The State Highway Administration (SHA) is beginning a $120,000 project to improve pedestrian safety and access to transit lines along York Road (MD 45) south of Towson, between Hillside Avenue and Hatherleigh Road.
The project includes: replacement of existing concrete sidewalk or construction of new sidewalk, curb and gutter where needed; construction or replacement of sidewalk ramps where needed; and reconstruction of driveway aprons where needed.
On or after Monday, November 14, crews will begin working along sections of northbound and southbound York Road between Hillside Avenue and Hatherleigh Road. During construction work, there may be single right lane closures along sections of northbound or southbound York Road at any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Additionally, crews will need to temporarily close driveways for up to 24 hours during concrete driveway apron work. The SHA Project Engineer, Mr. Michael Akers, Jr., will contact residents or businesses prior to any driveway work and temporary closures. The project will be complete late fall 2011, weather permitting.
Citizens who have questions about the project may contact Mr. Akers at the SHA Project Field Office at 410-661-0162, toll-free at the SHA District Four Office at 1-866-998-0367, or by email at makers@sha.state.md.us
If you or your aides have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Mr. Don Schaefer, Assistant District Engineer - Construction. Mr. Schaefer may be reached at 410-229-2421, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by email at dschaefer@sha.state.md.us. He will be pleased to assist you.
