ATTIC INSULATION: I'm sure we could improve our attic, starting with a "box" built around the drop-down stairs so that cold air doesn't seep into our hallway when it's "closed." There is even an 18" portion of the attic under the eaves (if that's the term for the area at the very edge of the attic floor, above the front door) that seems to be quite open to the air.I want to either hire someone to add rolls of thicker insulation batting or loose-fill, as long as it can still fit beneath the plywood flooring--or need encouragement to do it myself. Advice? Experience? Recommendations for professionals?

I would recommend Carroll Insulation - 410-795-0600. Ask for the owners Larry or Matt Helminiak. They sold me an unsulated stair cover (over the drop-down stairs), but they are a full-service insulation company.
ReplyDeleteThay came out after I asked about needing more insulation. They checked and said it was fine and offered the stair cover--things have been warmer ever since. Very good people to work with.
