Is it possible to request NOT to get the Rodgers Forge Newsletter. I don't ever use my front entrance and have to clear out all the newsletters/flyers/etc about once a week. Most everything I need from the Board I should be able to find here anyway. Is there an email we can send to unsubscribe out address?
I just wanted to comment that you mentioned regarding the crime log below that nothing occurred in Rodger's Forge. However, when I read through the log, I noticed that a 1st degree burgary occurred on Stanmore Ct the last week of October. I just wanted to bring that to your attention.
Is there a law prohibiting the distribution of flyers in Rodgers Forge? If so, what is it? How is it enforced? As a homeowner, who can I contact if a flyer is left at my house?
Is there a way to provide a one-car-per-household guarantee parking in front of the house? It used to be annoying to have to carry heavy bags of groceries a block; with recent attacks on walkers, the lack of house parking is a life-and-death matter.
I think that giving the board slightly more time than 24 hours to respond to these questions is appropriate. The post was put up on the 9th, and the board meeting is tonight. Maybe some questions will be answered in a post after the board meeting or later this week.
Here are some quick responses to the few questions posed here (from the top):
1. Delivery of the newsletter is done by an outside company and is very low-tech. The focus is simply to get a newsletter to every house. We can't offer an opt-out option. Sorry.
Also, the content here, on the website, and in the newsletter are often different; in essence, everything may not be online.
2. Thank you for pointing out the Stanmore Ct. incident. I did miss it, and I apologize for not noting it.
3. It is very difficult to get Baltimore County to provide more street lighting in Rodgers Forge. Over the years, due to crime and other circumstances, more street lights was a priority--and even then the response was tepid from the County. To my knowledge, very few have been added in the past few decades. No doubt we should ask for more.
4. The newsletter is delivered to every house in Rodgers Forge. A "Vacation List" is not maintained, and we can't direct delivery. It's encouraged that one ask his/her neighbors to pick up mail, newspapers, and newsletters while they're away from home.
5. The County passed a law regarding flyers several months ago. I don't have all the details. I will try to get more detail and post something on it. In the meantime, if you have an issue that has to be addressed, contact the Code Inspections & Enforcement department (there's a link on the righthand sidebar) or contact board member Don Gerding (please see the first several pages of your RF directory for his telephone number).
6. The most reliable way to park regularly in front of one's house is to politely ask your neighbors to leave the spot open for you. Sadly, even that approach doesn't often work. Short of a reserved space for disabled/handicapped people, I don't know of any way to guarantee a spot in front of one's house.
7. The Board is still working on disseminating the minutes and/or a summary of the meetings. Stay tuned.
The last few comments refer to the timeliness of responses to comments on the blog.
While many people have become accustomed to instant gratification due to the internet and email, the fact is that these responses are being posted on 11/12/2009--less than 72 hours from the very first comment. Frankly, that's not too bad considering some of the information here had to be gotten from several different members of the board.

ReplyDeleteCan Baltimore Co. provide more and better street lighting?
ReplyDeleteCan the RF newsletter and directory be delivered so that it is not left lying on sidewalks and front walks if the household is on vacation?

ReplyDeleteWhy can't I get an answer about posting the Board Meeting minutes?
ReplyDeleteThis is a weekly post that allows you to comment with any questions or concerns.
ReplyDeleteThe idea is to allow residents another avenue to communicate with the board and ask questions.
However it has become increasingly clear that the board would rather not address any difficult questions.
Policy seems to be: IGNORE
I would suggest only asking questions you already know the answer to.

ReplyDeleteI beg your pardon, but it has been several months with no reply. I continue to post the same question month after month with no reply..?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you for all the comments.
