RFCOP Crime Update Week of June 27th - July 3rd

RFCOP News: We are happy to report a rather uneventful July 4^th due to many of our patrollers out and about the Forge during the week prior and including July 5^th in the a.m. Approximately 18-20 hours were served patrolling for mischief, fireworks, suspicious conditions, etc. We have two more residents that have joined us in the past two months. We are also proud of all of you that have provided information, patrolled your area as you are going and coming from home. We are seeing more notifications of suspicious incidents being reported keeping our area safer than many surrounding communities. The suspects broke the front door to the store and attempted to remove the lottery machine. The suspects were unable to remove the machine and fled in vehicle. The vehicle was located and was determined to be stolen. The driver was apprehended after a bail out. The suspects were also responsible for a smash and grab of a Royal Farm Store in PC-08. RFCOP Stats for 1^st degree Burglaries in 2009, 2010, 2011:

2011 has been relatively quiet in Rodgers Forge with only 4 burglaries which are consistent with 2010 and 2009. By the end of June all 3 years we have a total of 4 1^st degree burglaries. In 2009 we ended the year with a total of 19, and 2010 a total of 11. Our goal is to continue the decrease in 2011.

Our patrollers have been out regularly on different days –all hours of the day, evening and night. Our communication within the community is growing stronger as time passes. More of you have been turning your “Lights On, Locking Up, and Looking out” which makes a difference in our statistics. The Citizens on Patrol can only do so much, but with your help our community is becoming safer each year. We are fairing much better than most of our neighboring communities.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your help in keeping the Forge a safe and wonderful place to live in. We also would like to extend a special thanks to Mike Calwell, the head of the Crime Prevention and Safety Committee for the many meetings he has attended and hours he has spent volunteering for our community in all areas of crime and safety. A very special thanks goes out to our patrollers for giving of their personal time they have spent with their drinks, snacks and cell phones – by walking, biking or car being the ears and eyes of the Forge.

BCPD Officer to be Honored For Work in the Forge

Please join the Baltimore County Police Community Relations Council (PCRC) in honoring Ofc. Heyman as the Officer of the Year for 2010. About 12 months ago, Ofc Heyman responded to a suspicious subject seen in a neighbor’s yard on Blenhiem Road. The suspect was no longer around when he responded. Ofc. Heyman spent some additional time in the area and noticed a vehicle that did not appear to fit into the area. Upon further investigation, he found the vehicle belonged to an individual in Baltimore City. Ofc. Heyman sat on the vehicle and identified the suspect at 3:30am in the morning. He was apprehended. This suspect was also responsible for several cat burglaries in Rodgers Forge.

Cake and Ice Cream will be served. Several Baltimore County Elected Officials have also been invited to attend. Please come by to that Ofc. Heyman for making Rodgers Forge a little safer.

Attention Runners, Help a Neighbor for Charity

Hello friends and neighbors - I am recruiting runners & walkers to join Team CASA, a charity team that's participating in the Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival in October 2011. We will be running/walking in any of the races (5k, half-marathon, full marathon and team relay) to raise awareness and funds to support CASA, a nonprofit organization that advocates for victims of child abuse and neglect.

We need a minimum of 100 runners registered by June 30th to be accepted as a charity team and we're at 35 today, with less than 10 days until the deadline. I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward this email to all of your contacts, co-workers, Facebook friends, etc. and ask them to forward to all of their friends, etc. I have also attached a flier if you have a place at work or elsewhere to post it.
